Indian Railways is preparing to upgrade its passenger experience with the upcoming Amrit Bharat Express 3.0 coaches, aimed at making train travel more comfortable, safe, and affordable.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently showcased a sample coach at New Delhi Railway Station, giving a first look at the redesigned interiors and improved facilities. He stated that the upgraded coaches have been developed with better design features and enhanced toilet systems to improve passenger convenience and safety.

Modern Interiors and Improved Comfort
The new version of Amrit Bharat Express builds on its reputation as a budget-friendly service but introduces noticeable upgrades in comfort. The sample coach features brighter interiors, coordinated colour themes, and a cleaner overall design.
Seats, curtains, flooring, and washroom areas now follow a unified aesthetic, giving the coach a more modern and premium feel. Improvements include stronger PVC flooring, redesigned snack tables, upgraded seat and berth materials, and more hygienic toilet facilities.
Focus on Safety and Fire Resistance
A key highlight of the Amrit Bharat Express 3.0 coaches is improved fire safety. According to the Ministry of Railways, the new design follows HL3 fire safety standards, which use more fire-resistant materials and stronger structural safeguards.
These changes are intended to enhance passenger safety, particularly on long-distance routes where trains carry large numbers of travellers.
Vision for Smarter Rail Travel
The overall goal of the new coaches is to combine affordability with modern comfort and safety. With the introduction of AC coaches and upgraded interiors, Indian Railways aims to offer passengers a more comfortable and secure travel experience while keeping fares accessible.
