Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Golden Jubilee (Sammelan) of Akhila Kerala Dheevara Sabha in Kochi. He highlighted the welfare initiatives for the fishing community and praised their contributions to the state. Modi also noted that Kerala’s new name reflects the cultural identity of Malayalis, bringing pride and joy to the people.

Launching ₹10,800 Crore Development Projects
During his visit, Modi inaugurated several major projects across Kerala worth over ₹10,800 crore. Key initiatives include the BPC Kochi Refinery polypropylene plant costing ₹5,500 crore, six-lane expansions on NH-66 Thalapady-Chengala and Vengalam-Ramanattukara bypass in Kozhikode, 23 new rural roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and railway projects including the modernization of Shoranur, Kuttippuram, and Changanassery stations along with the Shoranur-Nilambur electrification project. A 50 MW floating solar project in West Kallada, Kollam was also inaugurated.

Modi arrived at Cochin International Airport at 11:45 AM by helicopter, reached the Naval Headquarters at 12:15 PM, and then traveled by road to Marine Drive, where he attended the Golden Jubilee event at 12:30 PM.

The visit also marked the official start of the NDA’s legislative election campaign in Kerala. Modi’s presence highlighted the government’s emphasis on infrastructure, energy, and social welfare, showcasing projects aimed at strengthening connectivity, boosting economic growth, and improving livelihoods across the state.
