Tourists in Sri Lanka can now explore the island freely with Mahindra Treo electric three-wheelers, available for self-drive rentals through a partnership between Mahindra’s channel partner Evolution Auto and TukTuk Rental. The move offers travelers a clean, affordable, and flexible way to discover Sri Lanka’s cities and scenic routes without depending on taxis or public transport.
Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra shared that this initiative introduces “a new way to experience the island,” highlighting the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility and accessible green transport solutions.

Simple, Clean, and Independent Travel
The Treo, a fully electric three-wheeler, provides tourists the convenience of driving themselves while reducing their carbon footprint. The rental program simplifies access — visitors can book, pick up, and start driving with ease, making it a practical alternative for short city trips or coastal drives.
Expanding the Global Role of Electric Three-Wheelers
Beyond Sri Lanka, electric three-wheelers like the Mahindra Treo are gaining traction globally. In several European cities, they’re being adopted for urban shuttle services due to their compact size, quiet operation, and low emissions.
Mahindra sees the Treo as more than a travel option — it’s part of a larger shift toward sustainable urban mobility. With India already a major producer of small EVs, the company believes the country can lead the global transition to affordable electric transport.
