South India is preparing for a major transport upgrade with plans for a high-speed bullet train corridor linking Hyderabad, Chennai, Amaravati, and Bengaluru.
Announcing the project at the India Food Manufacturing Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu said surveys are already in motion. He described the region, home to more than five crore people, as one of the world’s biggest markets and said faster connectivity will unlock vast economic opportunities.

“This bullet train will connect Hyderabad, Chennai, Amaravati, and Bengaluru. It’s going to happen soon, and when it does, it will unlock the biggest market in the world,” Naidu said, according to ANI.
The corridor is expected to slash commute times, improve regional trade flows, attract tourism, and strengthen business ties across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka.
Naidu also pointed to Andhra Pradesh’s growing role as a food processing hub, with fresh investments of ₹9,000 crore and a 9% share of India’s national output.
The announcement follows significant progress on India’s first bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, where stations and bridges are nearing completion.
If cleared, the South India corridor could rank among the country’s most ambitious infrastructure ventures, reshaping mobility and economic integration across four states.
