The Indian government has introduced a new Aadhaar mobile app that allows users to verify and share their Aadhaar details digitally, removing the need for physical cards or photocopies. The app enhances convenience, security, and privacy in daily Aadhaar-based verifications.

Launched by IT Minister

Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, launched the app in New Delhi. He called it a major step toward simplifying digital verification while maintaining personal data control.

Key Features

  • Face ID Authentication: Users can now authenticate their identity through facial recognition on the app.
  • QR Code Scanning: Aadhaar verification can be completed by simply scanning a QR code—similar to UPI payments.
  • User Consent: Only necessary Aadhaar data is shared, and only with the user’s approval.

No More Physical Copies

With this app, users won’t need to carry or submit Aadhaar photocopies at places like hotels, airports, or shops. This prevents the risk of data misuse and ensures user privacy.

Built for Privacy

Still in beta testing, the app is built with strong privacy protections. Aadhaar information cannot be forged or altered, and sharing is secure and consent-based.

Role in Digital India

The minister also highlighted Aadhaar’s importance in government services and emphasized using AI with Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) to further develop India’s digital ecosystem, always keeping privacy as a core focus.
