Ratan Tata has allocated nearly a third of his residual assets to Mohini Mohan Dutta, an unexpected beneficiary. According to The Economic Times, Tata left assets worth Rs 500 crore to Dutta, a figure not widely known within his family or inner circle.

Legal Process for Asset Distribution

Although Dutta has been named in the will, the inheritance will only be granted after the probate process and High Court certification. This legal procedure is expected to take at least six months before the assets can be distributed.

Who is Mohini Mohan Dutta?

Dutta, a Jamshedpur-based entrepreneur, previously worked for the Tata Group and reportedly had a close association with Ratan Tata, as per The Times of India.

Dispute Over the Estate

Dutta is currently seeking a larger settlement than what the estate executors have determined. As per Tata’s will, he is entitled to one-third of the residual estate, which includes bank deposits exceeding Rs 350 crore. However, differences remain regarding the final distribution.
