The Subhadra Yojana is a transformative initiative launched in Odisha aimed at empowering women financially and socially. This scheme is designed to support women aged 21 to 60 by providing substantial financial assistance over five years.
Financial Aid
Through Subhadra Yojana scheme, a beneficiary will be paid an amount of ₹50,000 as follows:
- Annual Support: ₹10,000 per annum, payable in two half-yearly instalments of ₹5,000 each. Disbursal dates are as follows: Raksha Bandhan and International Women’s Day, till the fiscal year 2028-29.
- Direct Transfer: It would directly enter the Aadhaar linked Savings/Current bank account with a view to avoid complexities and promote full transparency. Other Features
- Subhadra Debit Card: The beneficiaries will be provided with the Subhadra Debit Card for easy transactions.
- Digital Incentives: The incentive in terms of ₹500 will be given to women who make the highest number of digital transactions in a locality, and in turn will be motivated for acquiring digital literacy and being financially independent
Eligibility Criterion
To implement the scheme, only those people that need the subsidy should be included in the benefit criteria. Hence, the following groups are excluded:
- Women from the well-to-do family.
- The govt employees and income tax payers.
Those women are not eligible to receive more than ₹1,500 per month under any other welfare schemes launched by the government.
The Subhadra Yojana registration is available throughout the year with no cut-off date, and thus all the beneficiaries can enrol at their convenience.
Expenditure and Fiscal Accountability
The Subhadra Yojana has been sanctioned with a huge amount of ₹55,825 crores to be implemented in FY 25-FY29. For the current fiscal, ₹10,000 crores have been sanctioned to ensure that it does not create any financial crunches while putting this scheme into practice.
The officials claim that ample funds shall be provided to support this scheme.
