Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) has opened the doors for school students to participate in the esteemed Global Water Challenge Stockholm Junior Water Prize. The institute is calling for applications from interested and eligible students, offering them a chance to showcase their innovative solutions to water-related challenges. Aspiring participants can find detailed information on the official website of IIT Madras, with the deadline for application submissions set for April 30, 2024.

The Global Water Challenge Stockholm Junior Water Prize is an opportunity for students in classes 9 to 12, aged above 15, to demonstrate their commitment to addressing critical water issues. Through the competition, IIT Madras aims to recognize and celebrate the efforts of young minds striving to make a difference in the realm of water sustainability.

Students interested in participating can apply through the designated link – https://sjwpindia.in/. The event promises to be a platform for nurturing talent and fostering innovative thinking among the youth.

A distinguished panel of subject matter experts will oversee the selection process, carefully evaluating the submissions to identify the top 25 teams. These selected teams will undergo specialized training in presentation skills and will be awarded certificates by SJWP India and IIT Madras.

From the top 25 teams, ten outstanding ones will be conferred with the prestigious National Water Champions Award, acknowledging their exceptional contributions to water conservation and management.

The ultimate reward awaits the winners of the water prize, as they will have the opportunity to represent India at the esteemed Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Sweden. Scheduled from August 25 to 29, 2024, as part of World Water Week, this international platform offers participants a chance to showcase their projects on a global stage.

The Global Water Challenge is being hosted by the Sustainability Venture Studio at the School of Sustainability, IIT Madras, in collaboration with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). This partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions to fostering sustainable solutions and empowering the next generation of water leaders.

For students passionate about making a positive impact on the world’s water challenges, the Global Water Challenge presents a unique opportunity to turn their ideas into reality and contribute towards building a more sustainable future.
