The government has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar details free of charge until June 14, 2024, providing relief to millions of Aadhaar holders. This extension, announced by UIDAI on social media, aims to encourage individuals to keep their Aadhaar documents updated for better service delivery.

Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identity number, is issued to Indian residents based on their biometric and demographic information. This unique identifier plays a crucial role in preventing duplicate numbers and detecting fake identities, ensuring the integrity of the Aadhaar system.

Update for Aadhaar Issued Over 10 Years Ago

For individuals whose Aadhaar cards were issued more than a decade ago and have not been updated since, UIDAI advises submitting Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents to revalidate demographic information. This step ensures smoother service delivery and authentication processes.

Online Aadhaar Update Process:

Visit https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ and log in using your Aadhaar number and OTP received on your registered mobile number.

Verify the displayed identity and address details in your profile.

If any details are incorrect, select the respective identity or address document from the drop-down menu.

Upload the relevant documents (file size less than 2 MB, formats: JPEG, PNG, or PDF).

Confirm your consent by submitting the uploaded documents.

Offline Aadhaar Update Process:

Visit https://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/aadhaar/ to access the Aadhaar portal.

Click on the ‘Centres Nearby’ tab to locate nearby Aadhaar centres by entering your location details.

Alternatively, use the ‘Search by PIN Code’ tab to find Aadhaar centres within your area PIN code.

By following these simple steps, individuals can ensure their Aadhaar details are up-to-date, facilitating seamless access to government services and authentication processes.
