The Marvels: Delay in release due to the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America and The Screen Actors Guild

Disney, the world’s largest Entertainment company, is reportedly re-evaluating its film release schedule for the remainder of 2023 in light of the ongoing strike by actors. Insiders familiar with the matter have disclosed that the strike has prompted discussions within Disney, and potential delays for certain titles are being considered due to concerns that the absence of actors could hinder promotional efforts for the movies.

The highly anticipated sequel “The Marvels” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) might face a potential postponement due to the ongoing strike by the Writers Guild of America and The Screen Actors Guild. The inability for performers and creative teams to promote their films is the main reason behind the potential delay. Despite claims of a delay, some believe that “The Marvels” may still be released on its scheduled November 10 date due to advanced marketing efforts. Disney and Marvel Studios have not yet addressed this report.

Among the films that might be affected are “Poor Things,” “Next Goal Wins,” “Wish,” and “Magazine Dreams,” all originally slated for release this year, as per sources cited by Bloomberg. However, it is important to note that any decisions regarding these films are contingent upon the outcome of the ongoing internal review, according to anonymous insiders discussing the matter.

A spokesperson for Disney has declined to provide any comments on the matter, maintaining silence on the potential delays and their implications.

This isn’t the first time Disney has had to adjust its release schedule this year. The studio had previously delayed some major films by up to three years. Unfortunately, Disney has experienced a series of disappointing box office results in recent months, impacting movies like “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” and “The Little Mermaid.”

In the context of these challenges and uncertainties, Variety reported last week that Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. was also considering postponing some of its 2023 films, including “Dune: Part Two.”

As the strike continues, Industry insiders and Film enthusiasts are closely watching how Hollywood studios navigate these obstacles and make crucial decisions about their highly anticipated projects. The outcome of the ongoing actors’ strike will undoubtedly have far-reaching implications for the entertainment industry as a whole.
