Chennai Metro introduces the Singara Chennai One City One Card

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has launched the “Singara Chennai One City One Card ” initiative, which aims to integrate multiple modes of transport into a single payment system for commuters in Chennai, India. The new card will simplify travel and offer a seamless experience for commuters who use multiple modes of transportation to get around the city.

The “Singara Chennai One City One Card” will be a smart card that can be used on the Chennai Metro, suburban trains, buses, and parking facilities. The initiative aims to reduce the need for commuters to carry multiple cards and cash while travelling. The card can be topped up with money, and commuters will be able to use it to pay for their travel fares and parking fees.

To ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience, CMRL has partnered with Axis Bank to issue and manage the card. The bank will provide a range of benefits to users, including discounts on travel fares and other partner offers. The card is expected to be available at all metro stations and other partner outlets across Chennai.

The “Singara Chennai One City One Card” initiative is a significant step towards making travel more convenient and accessible for residents of Chennai. It will also promote the use of public transportation and help reduce traffic congestion in the city. With the integration of multiple modes of transport into a single payment system, the initiative is expected to revolutionise travel in Chennai and become a model for other cities to follow.
