Honda Cars India plans to raise prices of its entry-level compact sedan, the Amaze, owing to upcoming stricter emission norms
In response to upcoming stricter emission norms, Honda Cars India plans to raise the prices of its entry-level compact sedan, the Amaze, by up to ₹12,000, effective from April 1. The price increase will vary depending on the different trims of the model. The rise in production cost due to the implementation of these norms is the reason behind the price hike, according to Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Honda Cars India.
However, the prices of the mid-sized sedan, City, will remain unchanged. The Indian automobile industry is currently striving to meet the second phase of BSVI, which requires vehicles to have an on-board self-diagnostic device to monitor real-time driving emission levels. This device will continuously monitor key parts, such as the catalytic converter and oxygen sensors, to ensure that emissions meet the required standards.
On March 22, Hero MotoCorp announced that it would increase the prices of its models by approximately 2%, and Tata Motors also revealed that it would increase the prices of commercial vehicles by up to 5% from April 1, 2023.
Maruti Suzuki, the Indian automaker, has disclosed plans to increase the prices of its car models in the near future in response to rising inflation and regulatory obligations. The company has not revealed the precise percentage by which prices will be raised, but the measure is intended to minimize the effects of inflation and meet regulatory obligations. The announcement was made in a regulatory filing on Thursday. Maruti Suzuki has admitted that, despite its best efforts to cut costs, it will likely be required to raise prices in order to counteract the effects of different variables.
