Hyderabad-based space tech startup Dhruva Space creates a history
It became the first privately-owned Indian firm to build satellites
Its two satellites -Thybolt-1 and Thybolt-2- were launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota
PSLV-C54 carried the satellites that weigh about 1.45 kg
The launch was facilitated by Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe)
The indigenously-developed nanosatellites were built at low cost
They would enhance amateur radio communications
They can be used for disaster management and low bit-rate applications of STEM
They are also useful in monitoring soil and crop quality and identifying pipeline leakages
