In India’s business scenario, family-owned ventures have a great reputation. Here are a few such businesses.

HCL Technologies:

Shiv Nadar started HCL technologies, a listed IT company in India. After he resigned as the Managing Director of HCL Technologies in 2021, his daughter Roshni Nadar Malhotra became the chairperson of HCL. She is the first woman to lead the company.

Reliance Industries:

Mukesh Ambani now leads Dhirubhai Ambani-founded Reliance Industries. His three children – Isha, Akash, and Anant- also work alongside him. They are on the board of directors of Reliance. While Isha leads Reliance Jio and Reliance Foundation, Akash is the director and head of strategy at Reliance Jio.

Wipro:

Azim Premji established Wipro. Following his retirement in 2019, his son Rishad Premji became its chairperson. Tariq Premji, his other son, is the vice president of Azim Premji Endowment Fund.

Piramal Group:

The Piramal Group is headed by Ajay Piramal while his daughter Nandini Piramal is the executive director of Piramal Enterprises. She leads the over-the-counter drug business. Anand Piramal is the director of Piramal Group. He is also the founder of Piramal Realty.

Godrej:

Founded by Ardeshir Godrej and Pirojsha Burjorji Godrej in 1897, the business is currently managed by Pirojsha’s children Adi Godrej, Nadir Godrej and their cousin Jamshyd Godrej.
