WhatsApp meta connect allows to access the platform on five devices at once

WhatsApp is an internationally-available, American free platform that allows the user to send text messages, voice messages, make video calls, and share images documents and current location.

So far, to use WhatsApp on multiple devices, a third-party app was required. Also, the web version of WhatsApp was not providing all the features. Now, the instant messaging platform has solved this problem by giving multi-device support.

The new feature enables smartphone devices to use WhatsApp accounts on other devices as well. The main highlight is that phones are not required to be connected to the internet. Keeping one phone as the main device, one can connect WhatsApp to four other companion devices at a time.

The multi-device support, which is called “Linked Devices” in the settings section of WhatsApp, lets users access the platform on devices such as laptops or desktops via WhatsApp Web, excluding their primary phone. But, if you don’t use your phone for over 14 days, the linked devices will be automatically disconnected.

The moment a person links his/her phone to another device, the device would send an end-to-end encrypted copy of your most recent messages to the newly linked device. Messages are stored locally. Not all messages are sent to WhatsApp web on desktop. Sometimes, to see the full message history, one may have to check the primary phone. WhatsApp has been testing its feature for the past few months.

How to use WhatsApp on multiple devices.

  1. Open WhatsApp web on a laptop or desktop.
  2. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone and go to settings. You will find ‘Linked Devices’ there.
  3. Click ‘Link a Device.’
  4. Once you open the scanner, scan the code on WhatsApp web using your phone.
  5. Once your WhatsApp account registers the new device, it will automatically sync the chat history and start to operate independently.
  6. To unpair a device, you can follow the same steps and just long press on the paired device and click remove.
