WhatsApp banned more than 2.2 million Indian accounts in June after users reported abusive content. According to market data firm Statista, there are more than 487 million WhatsApp users in India. WhatsApp has to publish a monthly report to follow India’s Information Technology Rules, 2021. It banned more than 1.9 million accounts in May. And over 1.6 million in April WhatsApp said its grievance officer received 632 complaints in June 2022. It has banned 64 accounts after the review of the complaints.

India’s startup ecosystem faces more layoffs. This time agritech startup DeHaat fired employees. That too after securing $115 million less than a year ago. That was the largest funding round for an Indian agritech startup. Reports say that 500 people were sacked. But, DeHaat says the number is not in the triple digits. It was a corrective measure around performance, says DeHaat. DeHaat has over 2,000 employees. It offers end-to-end agricultural services to farmers.

NITI Aayog starts the second round of startup incubation centres. NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission launched the second phase Atal Incubation Centres and Atal Community Innovation Centres will be set up as part of this. The programmes intend to support the innovation ecosystem in the country. This will be done via world-class institutions. So far, there are 68 Atal Incubation Centres across 18 states and 3 Union Territories. They have supported more than 2,700 startups.

The Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum aims to generate 40,000 job opportunities and bring $400 cr to the economy through a metaverse strategy.
