Divya Gokulnath, co-founder of Byju’s and wife of former CEO Byju Raveendran, rejected accusations that the couple diverted company loans to their personal accounts. She stated they lack the financial resources to hire legal representation in the United States.

Legal Representation Costs Are Prohibitive
Gokulnath revealed in an ANI interview that lawyers in the US demand “millions of dollars” to represent them. Due to this, Byju’s currently faces continuous court judgments without legal defense. She emphasized that if they truly had hundreds of millions of dollars, they would have been able to afford legal help and actively fight the cases.

Ongoing Legal Battles Over Unpaid Debts
Byju’s is involved in multiple legal disputes concerning unpaid debts in both the US and India, adding to the company’s challenges.

Personal Attacks Deemed Unfair
Gokulnath described the personal criticism against her and her husband as unfair. She expressed that monetary concerns are secondary and that their focus remains on preserving their reputation. She highlighted their commitment to contributing to the nation rather than personal gain.

Commitment to a ‘Make in India’ Vision
She reiterated their goal of building Byju’s as a proud Indian success story. Despite many entrepreneurs relocating abroad for business advantages, Gokulnath and Raveendran chose to develop their products and services entirely in India, aiming to set a global example in education.

Claims of Intimidation and Pressure Tactics
Gokulnath accused external forces of using intimidation and pressure tactics to isolate Byju Raveendran, with threats reportedly aimed at his family, colleagues, and lawyers. Despite these challenges, she stated that truth and their shared mission keep them united.
