The Pakistan government is set to pay Rs 14 crore in compensation following the deaths of 14 family members of UN-designated terrorist Masood Azhar during India’s Operation Sindoor. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reportedly approved Rs 1 crore compensation for each person killed, which will be given to their legal heirs.

Details of the Victims
According to reports, the deceased include Azhar’s elder sister and her husband, a nephew and his wife, a niece, and five children from his extended family. If Azhar is the sole legal heir, he could potentially receive the entire Rs 14 crore compensation amount.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Military Response
The Indian military described the May 7 operation as a precise strike aimed solely at terror infrastructure. Officials have stressed that no civilian areas were impacted during the airstrikes. The strike targeted the JeM headquarters in Bahawalpur, about 400 km from Lahore, located at Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, also known as the Usman-o-Ali campus.
Reconstruction Plans and Concerns
Alongside the compensation, Pakistan has committed to rebuilding houses damaged during the airstrikes. This move has raised concerns among Indian defence officials, who worry the rebuilt properties could be used again for terrorist activities.
Political Context and Reactions
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi warned after the operation that India will closely monitor Pakistan’s actions in the coming days, following a fragile ceasefire agreement between the two countries. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate the aftermath of Operation Sindoor.
