The Ambani family’s journey to becoming one of India’s most powerful business dynasties began with a strong foundation in education. Both Mukesh Ambani and Anil Ambani, sons of the late industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani, pursued notable academic paths that played significant roles in shaping their careers.

Mukesh Ambani’s Education and Career
Mukesh Ambani was born in Aden, Yemen, and later moved to Mumbai with his family. He studied at Hill Grange High School in Mumbai and completed his Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai (formerly UDCT). He later enrolled at Stanford University for an MBA but returned to India in 1980 at his father’s request to help grow the family business. His engineering background has been instrumental in his success at Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), which has become one of India’s most valuable companies under his leadership.
Anil Ambani’s Academic and Professional Path
Anil Ambani also studied at Hill Grange High School, followed by a bachelor’s degree in science from KC College under Mumbai University. He then went to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he completed his MBA in 1983. He went on to establish his own ventures under the Reliance ADA Group and briefly entered politics as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 2004 to 2006. He currently serves as the chairman and managing director of the Reliance Group.
Legacy of Dhirubhai Ambani
Dhirubhai Ambani, the founder of Reliance Industries in 1958, laid the foundation of the family’s business empire. Known for his vision and entrepreneurial skills, he transformed the Indian business landscape. For his contributions to trade and industry, he was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honour. His sons, Mukesh and Anil, have continued to build on this legacy in their own ways.
