At Vantara, Reliance’s newly inaugurated wildlife rescue and conservation center in Jamnagar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi toured the facility in a customized Land Rover Defender. Unlike the usual Mahindra Boleros and Gypsys used in safaris, this luxurious off-roader stood out, making it one of the most expensive safari vehicles in India.

The Unique Modifications
The Land Rover Defender 110 used in Vantara has been extensively modified for safari purposes. Here’s what makes it special:
- Open Safari Design: The roof has been removed, and reinforced metal rods replace the B and C pillars.
- Increased Roof Height: The new design allows passengers to stand comfortably and observe wildlife.
- Custom Green Color: The Defender is painted in a distinct green shade, though it’s unclear if it’s a factory or custom color.

A Rare Safari Vehicle in India
While most wildlife sanctuaries in India use budget-friendly safari vehicles, this is one of the first times a Land Rover Defender has been transformed for the purpose. Given its luxury status, this could be the most expensive safari vehicle in the country.
Powerful & Feature-Packed
The Defender 110 is known for its off-road capabilities and comes with multiple engine options:

- 2.0L and 3.0L petrol engines
- 3.0L diesel engine
- 5.0L V8 petrol option
Standard features in the Defender include a digital instrument cluster, climate control, Meridian sound system, electronic air suspension, 360-degree camera, and leather upholstery—though some of these may have been removed for the safari modification.
With this custom Defender, Vantara’s safari experience now combines luxury with wildlife adventure, setting a new benchmark for premium safari vehicles in India.
