Hyderabad-based spacetech startup TakeMe2Space has achieved a major milestone after its PowerBank-50 became India’s first commercially available, off-the-shelf satellite battery to earn flight heritage. The battery successfully operated aboard Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital launch vehicle to reach orbit.
Earning flight heritage means the battery has been successfully tested and validated in the harsh conditions of space, making it suitable for future satellite missions. The achievement significantly enhances the credibility of India’s indigenous space hardware while reducing reliance on imported space-grade components.
The milestone marks another step forward for India’s fast-growing private space ecosystem. For TakeMe2Space, which is building orbital computing infrastructure and space-based data centres, the successful mission validates its in-house technology and strengthens India’s ambition to become a global hub for advanced space technologies.
