India and Qatar have officially elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership by signing multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) focusing on key areas like trade, energy, investments, technology, food security, and cultural exchanges.

Agreement Signed in the Presence of Leaders

The Agreement on Establishment of Strategic Partnership was exchanged at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani in attendance. The two leaders also discussed regional and global matters of mutual interest.

Taxation Agreement and Economic Cooperation

Alongside the strategic partnership, India and Qatar signed a revised agreement aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing fiscal evasion on income taxes. This move is expected to boost economic cooperation between the two nations.

High-Level Talks and Delegation Meetings

The Qatari Amir, who arrived in India for a two-day visit, was given a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was received by President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi. He also interacted with senior ministers and officials.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Accompanied by a high-level delegation, including government ministers and business leaders, the Amir’s visit is expected to further strengthen India-Qatar ties. The two countries have maintained strong diplomatic and economic relations, with regular engagements at the highest levels.
