The Kerala government has approved the lease of 18.16 acres of land in Kochi to Cochin Shipyard Limited for a new ship block building project involving an investment of around ₹5,000 crore.
The project is expected to create around 2,000 direct jobs, along with additional indirect employment opportunities. The land, located at Ramanthuruth near Kochi, will be used to expand shipbuilding capabilities.
The project is expected to strengthen Kerala’s shipbuilding and maritime ecosystem while attracting further industrial investment to Kochi. The state government will receive an annual lease amount of ₹1.45 crore, or around ₹1.70 crore including GST.
