BTS Reunion Delayed Until 2026

HYBE hints that BTS may not reunite until 2026 despite ongoing military service completions

As J-Hope wrapped up his mandatory military service last month, BTS fans were excited about the possibility of a reunion for the popular Korean boy band. However, recent statements from their management agency, HYBE, suggest that the much-anticipated reunion might take longer than expected.

HYBE Hints at 2026 for Full BTS Reunion

During HYBE’s Q3 earnings call on November 5, CFO Lee Kyung Joon revealed that discussions about BTS’ activities are being planned for 2026. While HYBE acknowledges that a full group comeback would generate significant revenue, they also noted that it may not be as profitable as before, given the success of other artists under their management and their expanding ventures.

HYBE had initially announced that BTS would reunite after all members completed their military service, which is mandatory in South Korea. As of now, only Jin and J-Hope have finished their service, and while the remaining members are set to complete their service in 2025, the reunion is now expected to take place in 2026.

BTS on Hiatus Due to Military Service

Since 2022, BTS has been on a self-imposed hiatus due to the South Korean military requirement for all men under 30. J-Hope, who finished his 18-month service in October, praised the sacrifices of those serving to protect the country. Jin had completed his service in June, and the other members are expected to finish their enlistments by June 2025.

Challenges to BTS’ Reunion

In addition to the delays caused by military service, another setback for the group’s reunion occurred earlier this year when SUGA was involved in a drunk e-scooter incident, which caused a drop in HYBE’s share price. Despite these challenges, some members of BTS are continuing to pursue solo projects. Jin, for example, is set to release his first solo album in November.

Though fans are eagerly awaiting the full return of BTS, it seems that the group’s reunion might be a little further off than expected, with 2026 now looking like the year they’ll return as a complete unit.
