Tata Motors has taken the lead in the fiercely competitive Indian car market, surpassing popular models from Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai with its top-selling Tata Punch. During the period from January 2024 to April 2024, the Tata Punch has secured the top spot as the highest-selling car in India, outperforming well-established models like the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, Baleno, and Hyundai Creta, as well as its sibling, the Tata Nexon.
With impressive sales of 73,121 units so far this year, the Tata Punch has surpassed its competitors, including the WagonR at 71,386 units, Baleno at 66,784 units, Brezza at 62,795 units, Creta at 60,393 units, and Nexon at 56,803 units.
The Tata Punch is available in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants, offering versatility to consumers. The ICE model is equipped with a 1.2-litre petrol engine (88PS and 115Nm) with options for 5-speed manual transmission and 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). Additionally, customers can opt for the Punch CNG variant with a 5-speed manual transmission, delivering 73PS and 103Nm of power.
On the other hand, the EV version of the Tata Punch is offered in two configurations – a 60kW motor (114Nm) with a 25kWh battery pack and a claimed range of 315km (MIDC), and a 90kW motor (190Nm) with a 35kWh battery pack and a claimed range of 421km (MIDC).
The Tata Punch ICE is competitively priced between Rs 6.13 lakh and Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tata Punch EV falls in the price range of Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an attractive choice for Indian consumers seeking both performance and sustainability in their vehicles.
