The 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit saw a significant boost in relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and India. The summit, held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, provided a platform for leaders, government officials, and business professionals to engage in discussions and forge collaborations. The visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who was the chief guest, marked a pivotal moment in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Bilateral Meeting and MoUs:
Ahead of the summit, Prime Minister Modi engaged in a bilateral meeting with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, signifying the commitment to a shared and prosperous future. The leaders discussed various aspects of the rapidly transforming India-UAE partnership.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, focusing on key areas such as investment cooperation in renewable energy sectors, innovative healthcare projects, food park development, and the creation of sustainable, green, and efficient ports. These agreements lay the foundation for collaborative initiatives that will benefit both nations.
UAE President’s Participation:
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the invitation to the summit and commended the event’s role as an international forum for economic growth and investment. He acknowledged the insightful remarks of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during the opening ceremony.
The UAE President, accompanied by a high-level delegation, extended his wishes for the summit’s success, emphasising the importance of cooperation, development, and prosperity for all participants.
Diplomatic Engagements:
In addition to the economic collaborations, Prime Minister Modi held talks with CEOs and industry leaders, including Micron Technologies CEO Sanjay Mehrotra and Suzuki Motor Corp president Toshihiro Suzuki. The discussions revolved around plans to boost investments in India and enhance the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem.
The Prime Minister also met with Timor-Leste’s President Jose Ramos-Horta and Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi. Bilateral meetings focused on strengthening cooperation in various fields, including health, traditional medicine, energy, IT, fintech, and capacity building.
Timor-Leste’s President expressed support for India’s permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council, showcasing the diplomatic goodwill shared between the nations. Additionally, discussions included invitations for collaboration in international alliances such as the International Solar Alliance and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.
The Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has not only celebrated two decades of successful economic discourse but has also paved the way for deeper collaborations between the UAE and India. The bilateral meetings, signing of MoUs, and diplomatic engagements underscore the commitment of both nations to fostering a robust and mutually beneficial relationship.
