Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, announced the collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay to introduce the ‘Bharat GPT’ program. As the largest telecommunications company in the country and a unit of Reliance Industries, Reliance Jio is also actively considering the launch of an operating system for televisions. Ambani mentioned ongoing efforts in this regard during his address at the annual Techfest of the institute.
Ambani emphasized the importance of building an “ecosystem of development” for the company and shared insights into the vision of “Jio 2.0,” which is already in progress. He highlighted the partnership with IIT Bombay, dating back to 2014, for the Bharat GPT program. According to Ambani, the next decade will witness significant transformations driven by large language models and generative AI, and Reliance Jio is committed to exploring these applications.
Discussing the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping various industries, Ambani expressed the company’s dedication to integrating AI vertically within the organization and horizontally across all sectors. He revealed plans for launching products and services in media, commerce, communication, and devices.
Ambani also disclosed that Reliance Jio has been actively developing its own operating system for televisions. The chairman expressed excitement about 2024, a special year for his family, and discussed the company’s enthusiasm for offering 5G private networks to enterprises of all sizes.
Describing India as the ‘biggest innovation centre’ for the next decade, Ambani predicted that the country would become a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade. He underscored the transformative power of AI and encouraged young entrepreneurs to embrace failure without fear. Ambani emphasized the importance of working for societal good, particularly in the consumer space, and urged everyone to approach their work with deep passion.
