New Delhi: Air India’s historic deal to buy 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing has come as a relief to the US and France. Here again Indian Airlines are buying Boeing and Air Buses for air transport from India. 1200 transport aircraft in the next two years. IndiGo and other Indian airlines are set to order around 1,200 aircraft, according to a report by the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation India (CAPA India). IndiGo has so far placed orders for 500 aircraft from Airbus alone. American Boeing is waiting for new orders from IndiGo and other Indian Airlines.
Indigo to partner with Turkish Airlines
Meanwhile, the country’s largest carrier IndiGo on Friday announced a partnership with Turkish Airlines to expand its operations in Europe. The airline said it will receive 500 additional aircraft already ordered from Airbus for this expansion
IndiGo currently operates 1,800 flights per day, 10 percent of which are operated on International routes. With more than 300 aircrafts currently serving 76 domestic and 26 International destinations, IndiGo can use these 500 new aircrafts to strengthen its International services.
IndiGo’s Head of International Sales Vinay Malhotra said the new expansion plan will help improve passenger services from India to Istanbul and Europe.

IndiGo’s 76 online points within India aim to take people across India to Delhi, Mumbai, Istanbul and then on to Europe.
IndiGo’s current International flights are centred around the Indian Subcontinent. The partnership with Turkish Airlines is a co-ship partnership that allows IndiGo to enter Europe. IndiGo will be able to carry passengers from India to Istanbul and from Istanbul to Europe through code ship partnerships.
The Airbus Boeing ordered by Air India will start arriving by the end of 2023
On February 14, Tata-owned Air India announced that it had placed orders for 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing.
Air India said on Tuesday it has signed agreements with Airbus and Boeing to acquire wide-body and single-aisle aircraft. The order includes 40 Airbus A350, 20 Boeing 787, 10 Boeing 777-9 widebody aircraft, 210 Airbus A320/A321 Neos and 190 Boeing 737 Max single-aisle aircraft.
The A350 will be powered by Rolls-Royce engines and the B777/787 will be powered by engines from GE Aerospace. All single-aisle aircraft will fly on CFM International’s engines. The first of the new aircraft will enter Air India service by the end of 2023, and Air India will start receiving more aircraft from mid-2025.
