Vande Bharat trains in Southern India have recorded strong growth in both revenue and passenger traffic, according to Southern Railway. Total earnings from the services have reached around ₹803.86 crore, while passenger numbers have climbed to 77.38 lakh. In the previous financial year, the figures stood at 54.12 lakh passengers and ₹540.65 crore in revenue, indicating a sharp rise in demand.
Several routes, including Mangaluru–Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai Egmore–Nagercoil, and Kasaragod–Thiruvananthapuram, are consistently reporting 100% occupancy. In the current financial year’s first two months alone, over 15.21 lakh passengers travelled, generating ₹162.96 crore in revenue.

The reduced travel time and improved comfort have contributed significantly to the popularity of Vande Bharat services across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Routes connecting major cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Mysuru, and Hyderabad have become especially popular among professionals and tourists.
Southern Railway officials noted that four of the top ten highest-occupancy Vande Bharat trains in India operate in the southern region, highlighting the strong demand and operational success of the service.
