Maruti Suzuki has dismissed suggestions that indicate small cars are on their way out.

The company said that affordable hatchbacks would grow strongly.

SUVs capturing over 50% of the market won’t be a threat to hatchbacks.

Kenichi Ayukawa, CEO of Maruti Suzuki, downplayed concerns about small cars.

He blamed shortages in the supply of components, such as semiconductors, for the fall in sales.

Ayukawa said Maruti is working on a series of new cars, including SUVs.
