BYD’s premium electric vehicle brand Denza has officially launched the new Z9S electric sedan in China, with prices starting at 255,800 yuan and going up to 325,800 yuan. The sedan is available in three variants and offers single-motor rear-wheel-drive as well as tri-motor all-wheel-drive options.

The Z9S is positioned as a more compact alternative to the Denza Z9 and comes with a range of technology and performance features aimed at the premium electric sedan segment. Its flagship version offers a claimed CLTC range of up to 1,100 km, while the performance variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.68 seconds.
The sedan measures 5,090 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,025 mm. It features split headlights, a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, an active electric spoiler and a 120-litre front trunk. Inside, the Z9S gets a 17.3-inch central display, a 13.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a large head-up display, Nappa leather seats and a rear touchscreen for controlling comfort and entertainment functions.
The Z9S uses BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and supports fast charging. Its three variants offer CLTC driving ranges of 920 km, 1,100 km and 780 km respectively. The car also comes with BYD’s e3 technology platform, rear-wheel steering and DiSus-A intelligent air suspension. Its driver-assistance package includes the LiDAR-equipped God’s Eye 5.0 system, with support for city and highway navigation assistance.
The launch comes as Denza prepares to enter the Indian market later this year. The company is understood to have finalised dealer groups across several key markets, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Gujarat, the National Capital Region and Chandigarh. The selected dealer groups are existing BYD partners and the Denza network is expected to operate separately from BYD’s current retail operations.
For India, the Denza D9 luxury MPV is expected to be the brand’s first model. The vehicle features second-row captain seats with massage functions, powered leg rests, a panoramic sunroof, premium audio, multi-zone climate control and advanced driver-assistance systems. Reports indicate that the D9 could be introduced around the festive season, although BYD India has not officially confirmed the launch date.
The Z9S launch and the planned Indian retail network mark the latest steps in BYD’s effort to expand Denza as a separate premium EV brand, both in China and in the Indian market.
