Vizhinjam International Seaport has achieved another major operational milestone by handling 17,400 TEUs from a single vessel, MSC Loreto.
MSC Loreto is one of six Ultra Large Container Vessels in the MSC Irina series, which includes some of the world’s largest container ships.
The vessel arrived at Vizhinjam from Singapore and sailed onward to Colombo after completing its operations.
The latest milestone highlights Vizhinjam’s growing capabilities as a global transshipment hub. Advanced automation, technology and streamlined port operations are supporting the port’s ability to handle some of the largest vessels in the global shipping network.
The handling of 17,400 TEUs from a single vessel further demonstrates Vizhinjam’s expanding role in international container shipping and transshipment.
