While many children were learning basic letters, Sreelakshmi Suresh from Kozhikode, Kerala, was already interested in computers. Born on February 5, 1998, she developed a passion for technology when she was just three years old. By the age of six, she had created her first website.
From School Website to Her Own Company
Sreelakshmi’s interest in technology grew quickly. At just eight years old, she designed and developed a website for her school. The project attracted attention from the media and educators and became an important step in her journey.
At the age of 11, she took another major step by starting her own company, eDesign Technologies. The company offered web design, website development and SEO services. Around the same time, she also launched TinyLogo, a logo-based search platform.
Working With Global Brands
Sreelakshmi’s success was not only because she started young. Her work also attracted major clients. Over the years, eDesign Technologies developed nearly 100 websites for different organisations and businesses.
The company worked with well-known names such as Microsoft, Nokia and Coca-Cola. It also designed websites for organisations including the Bar Council of Kerala. The company reportedly served more than 250 clients while offering its services at affordable prices.
Breaking Barriers in Technology
Sreelakshmi entered the technology industry at a time when women were still underrepresented in web development and other technical fields.
Instead of waiting until she was older, she began building her career while still a child. She handled projects, worked with clients and managed her company at an age when most children were still exploring their interests.

National and International Recognition
Her achievements received attention both in India and abroad. In 2008, when she was 10 years old, Sreelakshmi received the National Award for Exceptional Achievement from the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The award was presented by Sonia Gandhi at a ceremony in Delhi.
She also received international honours, including the Golden Web Award from the United States and the Sixty Plus Education Award from Canada.
There have been different claims over the years about who was the world’s youngest CEO, with different people receiving that description. Regardless of such titles, Sreelakshmi’s achievements at such a young age remain remarkable.
Education Alongside Business
Even after starting her company at 11, Sreelakshmi continued her education. She completed her schooling at Presentation Higher Secondary School in Kozhikode.
She later studied business management at St. Joseph’s College, Devagiri. Managing her education while running a technology company required strong discipline and commitment.
