Hyderabad-based AIG Hospitals is set to invest ₹2,000 crore over the next five years to build a 1,000-bed greenfield multispeciality hospital at Endada in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The foundation stone for the project was laid by Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh and AIG Hospitals Chairman Dr D Nageshwar Reddy. The project is expected to create around 9,000 jobs and further strengthen Visakhapatnam as a major healthcare destination.
The hospital will be built in two phases. The first phase will have 650 beds and is expected to become operational by October 2028. The second phase will add another 350 beds, taking the total capacity to 1,000 beds. Once fully operational, the hospital is expected to have around 1,000 doctors and provide jobs across medical, technical, administrative and support roles.
The project will come up on a nine-acre campus and will be more than just a hospital. It will include a nursing college, paramedic training centre, research laboratory, AI centre and academic block. The aim is to create an integrated centre for healthcare, education, training and medical research.
AIG Hospitals plans to offer more than 50 medical and surgical specialities at the facility. It will have advanced infrastructure, including modular operating rooms, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, endoscopy suites, 150 critical care beds and a 50-bed emergency department.
The outpatient department is expected to handle around 5,000 consultations every day, making it one of the major healthcare facilities in the region.
AIG Hospitals Vice-Chairman P V S Raju said the project would create employment at different levels while the nursing college and paramedic training centre would help develop a steady supply of trained healthcare professionals in the region.
The Andhra Pradesh government has welcomed the investment, saying the project will bring advanced healthcare services to Visakhapatnam while creating new opportunities for doctors, nurses, paramedics and other healthcare workers.
With an investment of ₹2,000 crore, a planned capacity of 1,000 beds and around 9,000 jobs, the AIG Hospitals project is expected to become a major addition to Visakhapatnam’s healthcare infrastructure.
