Digital goods transportation platform Porter has reached a major milestone by deploying its 10,000th electric truck in Delhi. The vehicle was flagged off in the presence of Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
The milestone highlights the growing adoption of electric vehicles in India’s urban freight and goods transportation sector.
Porter Expands Electric Fleet
Porter currently operates more than 50,000 electric vehicles every month across its network. The company plans to increase this fleet fourfold over the next five years as demand for cleaner and more efficient freight transportation grows.
Using its digital platform to improve vehicle utilisation, Porter said it has helped eliminate around 185 crore kilometres of empty trips so far. This has also contributed to fuel import savings of more than ₹1,000 crore.
Focus On Cleaner Freight
Porter Co-Founder and CEO Uttam Digga said the deployment of the 10,000th electric truck reflects the increasing role of EVs in India’s goods transportation industry.
He noted that expanding electric freight will require solutions around vehicle costs, charging infrastructure, financing and efficient vehicle utilisation.
Porter Co-Founder and Executive Vice Chairman Pranav Goel said the milestone was achieved through collaboration with driver partners, vehicle manufacturers, EV infrastructure providers and policymakers.

Nitin Gadkari said the flag-off of Porter’s 10,000th electric truck in Delhi demonstrates the growing use of electric vehicles in India’s freight sector.
The development comes as India continues to push for cleaner transportation and greater electrification of commercial vehicles, particularly in urban logistics and last-mile goods movement.
