India recorded a significant rise in high-income taxpayers during the last financial year, with nearly one lakh additional individuals declaring annual incomes above ₹1 crore, according to data shared by the Finance Ministry in Parliament.
The number of taxpayers reporting annual incomes exceeding ₹100 crore also increased, with 13 new individuals entering this exclusive category. The figures underscore the rapid pace of wealth creation in India as entrepreneurship, corporate growth and investments continue to expand.

The rise in affluent taxpayers reflects the country’s growing economic momentum, supported by sectors such as technology, manufacturing, financial services and startups. It also indicates improving tax compliance and the continued widening of India’s direct tax base.
The latest data highlights India’s emergence as one of the world’s fastest-growing wealth creation hubs, with a steady increase in both crore-level and ultra-high-income taxpayers contributing to the nation’s economic growth and tax revenues.
