DP World’s Marine Services business, Shipping Solutions, has expanded its Indian coastal fleet with the acquisition of DP World Indus, a container vessel with a capacity of more than 2,500 TEUs. The India-flagged vessel will support domestic coastal trade and improve cargo movement between major ports across the country.

The addition of DP World Indus strengthens the company’s coastal shipping network, which now serves 14 Indian ports with a dedicated fleet of 10 vessels. In 2025, DP World’s coastal operations handled more than 473,000 TEUs, reflecting the growing importance of sea-based logistics in India’s supply chain.
According to DP World, expanding coastal shipping offers a more sustainable alternative to long-haul road transport by reducing road congestion, lowering carbon emissions and improving supply chain resilience. The company says the new vessel will enhance connectivity between India’s manufacturing, industrial and consumption hubs.
The acquisition aligns with India’s Maritime Vision 2030 and DP World’s broader strategy of investing in ports, logistics and shipping infrastructure. It also supports the company’s efforts to strengthen multimodal transport and build a more efficient, resilient and environmentally responsible logistics ecosystem across India.
