International media outlets highlighted India’s recent assembly election results with widespread attention, especially the political shift in key states. Many global publications focused on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong performance in West Bengal, where it ended Mamata Banerjee’s long-standing dominance and secured a historic breakthrough in a state traditionally seen as an opposition stronghold.

Reports from major newspapers such as the BBC, The Guardian, New York Times, and The Washington Post described the outcome as a significant moment in India’s political landscape, noting its potential impact on national power dynamics and the strengthening position of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

Alongside coverage of the BJP’s victory in the east, international outlets also highlighted developments in Tamil Nadu, where actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay emerged as a major surprise. His newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) reportedly outperformed established parties, drawing attention from global media as a new force in regional politics.

Some reports described TVK’s performance as one of the most unexpected outcomes of the elections, noting that Vijay’s entry into politics has disrupted traditional party dynamics in the state.

Media coverage from Pakistan and Bangladesh also reflected similar narratives, focusing on the BJP’s gains in West Bengal and broader regional political shifts. In Bangladesh, reports additionally noted setbacks for established political figures in southern India, with attention again on the rise of new political entrants like Vijay.

Overall, the international press framed the election results as a major political turning point, marked by both the BJP’s expansion in eastern India and the emergence of new regional forces in the south.
