The new terminal at Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport has commenced commercial operations, increasing annual passenger handling capacity to 13.1 million and reinforcing Guwahati’s role as the primary aviation gateway to India’s North-East.

The terminal was inaugurated by Narendra Modi on December 20, 2025, and the operational launch was attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Jeet Adani.
With 21 domestic and three international routes, including Bangkok, Paro and Singapore, the airport now handles over 130 aircraft movements daily. The expanded infrastructure is expected to support further route additions and international growth.
Designed by architect Nuru Karim, the terminal integrates regional identity, drawing inspiration from Assam’s kopou phool and incorporating over 140 metric tonnes of bamboo.
Operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, the expansion underscores growing aviation demand and infrastructure development across the North-East.
