Indian Navy’s stealth frigate INS Trikand visited Taranto, Italy, on 28 September 2025 as part of her ongoing operational deployment to the Mediterranean Sea.

Strengthening Naval Cooperation

During the port call, the crew of INS Trikand participated in professional exchanges and cross-deck visits with their Italian counterparts. These interactions focused on sharing best practices and improving operational interoperability between the Indian and Italian navies.

High-Level Diplomatic Engagement

Captain Sachin Kulkarni, Commanding Officer of INS Trikand, met with Rear Admiral Andrea Petroni, Commander of the Italian Navy’s Second Naval Division, in a courtesy call that highlighted the cordial defence relations between the two nations.

Significance of the Visit

The Taranto visit reflects India’s emphasis on its strategic ties with Italy and the commitment of both countries to enhancing defence cooperation and maritime partnership. Following the port call, INS Trikand has continued on the next phase of her deployment.
