The Central Government has revised passport application fees across multiple categories under the amended Passports Rules, 1980. The new fee structure will come into effect from July 1, 2026.

Under the revised rates, a fresh or reissued 36-page passport under the normal category will cost ₹2,500, up from ₹1,500. The Tatkal fee for the same category has increased to ₹5,000 from ₹3,500.
The fee for a 60-page passport has been raised from ₹2,000 to ₹3,500 under the normal category, while the Tatkal fee has increased to ₹6,000. Charges for replacing lost or damaged passports and several passport-related services have also been revised.
The Ministry of External Affairs has retained the 10% fee concession for fresh passport applications submitted by children up to eight years of age and senior citizens above 60 years. Emergency Certificates issued within India will continue to be free of charge.
The revised fee structure is intended to update passport service charges after more than a decade and will apply to all applications submitted on or after July 1.
