Air India will discontinue complimentary laundry services for its flight crew during international hotel layovers from July 1, 2026, as the airline intensifies measures to reduce operating costs. The benefit will no longer be available to pilots and cabin crew staying at overseas hotels.

The move comes as the Tata Group-owned airline continues efforts to improve its financial performance amid mounting losses and rising operational expenses. The airline has been implementing a series of cost-control initiatives while pursuing its long-term transformation strategy.
Laundry services will continue to be provided during domestic layovers within India, with the latest change applying only to international hotel stays.
Air India has been focused on streamlining expenses while investing in fleet modernization, customer experience and operational efficiency. The latest decision reflects the carrier’s attempt to balance employee benefits with tighter cost management as it works toward a sustainable turnaround.
