The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at IIT Kanpur has now incubated over 500 startups, becoming one of the first IIT-led incubators in India to reach this milestone. Set up in 2000 with SIDBI, SIIC supports technology-focused entrepreneurship and innovation.

Creating Jobs and Value
Startups from SIIC have raised funds giving them a combined value of around Rs 12,000 crore. The incubator has supported more than 150 women-led ventures, and the top 253 startups have created over 10,800 jobs across 22 states in India.
Wide Range of Industries
SIIC nurtures startups in medtech, agritech, defence, aerospace, AI, fintech, clean technology, and social impact sectors. Success stories include Offgrid Energy Labs, which raised $15 million for its zinc-bromine battery system, and Primary Healthtech, which is expanding its IoT-based Mobilab diagnostic device. Lifeandlimb.ai and AgrowSure represented India at the UK’s Commonwealth Startup Fellowship, while Royal Bengal Greentech secured funding on Shark Tank India.
Expanding Globally
In 2025, SIIC partnered with US accelerator NMexus to help startups access international markets and regulatory guidance.
Supporting National Goals
SIIC’s work aligns with initiatives like Make in India, Vocal for Local, and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, helping startups grow while solving societal challenges.
Building India’s Startup Ecosystem
As one of India’s first academic incubators, SIIC provides infrastructure, mentorship, and links with government and industry. It helps startups move from prototype to market-ready solutions while supporting India’s innovation and self-reliance goals.
