Singapore’s Seatrium Offshore Technology (SOT) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s largest shipbuilder, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation in the region’s offshore sector.

Seatrium Cochin Shipyard offshore partnership

The agreement focuses on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services for Asian clients, combining Seatrium’s offshore engineering know-how with CSL’s infrastructure and fabrication strengths. The MoU, signed virtually, outlines plans for joint marketing, project execution, and technology exchange, while also opening doors to other offshore markets in Asia.

Winston Cheng, Senior Vice President at Seatrium, said the deal represents a strategic move to grow the company’s Asian footprint, noting India’s rising offshore energy demand and its clean energy transition goals. CSL General Manager Sivakumar A added that the partnership will strengthen CSL’s offshore presence and allow it to tap Seatrium’s global expertise.

This latest agreement follows a November 2024 partnership between the two firms to jointly supply equipment for jack-up rigs used in Indian offshore operations. With India stepping up offshore energy development to meet industrial demand, the collaboration positions both companies to play a larger role in the sector’s growth.
