Indian travellers can now use Unified Payments Interface (UPI) apps to make online bookings at some of the world’s popular tourist attractions, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore. The Ministry of Finance announced the facility on October 30, marking another expansion of India’s digital payments network into international markets.

The facility has been enabled through partnerships established by NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), with payment service providers in the UAE and Singapore.
UPI at Burj Khalifa and Singapore Attractions
In the UAE, NIPL has partnered with NEOPAY and Emaar Entertainment to enable UPI payments for online bookings at At the Top, Burj Khalifa. It is the first tourist attraction in the UAE to accept UPI for e-commerce transactions.
In Singapore, NIPL has partnered with FOMO Pay to extend UPI acceptance to Resorts World Sentosa. The facility covers major attractions, including Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
The integration allows Indian visitors to use their preferred UPI applications for online ticket purchases, offering a familiar payment option while planning international travel.
UPI Accepted in 10 Countries
With the latest expansion, UPI is currently accepted in 10 countries: Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Greece.
UPI-based ticket bookings for the Eiffel Tower in France were introduced on January 26, 2024.
Uzbekistan is expected to become the 11th country to accept UPI following a commercial agreement announced on August 30, 2026, during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
The expansion reflects India’s efforts to increase the international reach of its digital payment infrastructure and make cross-border transactions more convenient for Indian travellers.
