Hyundai Motor India has inaugurated its new AI-enabled manufacturing plant in Talegaon, Pune, marking a major expansion of its manufacturing operations in the country. The facility was inaugurated on October 14, 2026, as the automaker marked 30 years of operations in India. The company plans to invest ₹11,000 crore at the plant in phases to expand production capacity and strengthen its manufacturing capabilities.

AI-Powered Smart Manufacturing
The Talegaon facility is designed as an advanced Industry 4.0 plant, integrating artificial intelligence, digital manufacturing systems and automated quality checks. It uses AI-driven analytics, predictive maintenance, digital simulations and augmented reality-based training to improve production efficiency, quality and worker safety.
The plant has an initial annual production capacity of 1.7 lakh vehicles. Hyundai plans to increase this to 3.2 lakh units by 2030. Along with its Chennai operations, the expansion will take Hyundai Motor India’s combined annual production capacity to nearly 11.4 lakh vehicles.
Hyundai Venue to Lead Production
The Pune plant will manufacture the new-generation Hyundai Venue for export markets, with shipments planned to more than 35 countries. Its flexible production lines are designed to accommodate multiple models, including internal combustion engine and hybrid vehicles in the future.
The facility also includes an engine shop with an annual production capacity of 1.5 lakh engines. Hyundai said the plant will support localisation, supplier development and India’s role as a global automotive export hub.
₹11,000 Crore Investment to Support Growth
Hyundai’s investment in Pune comes amid a broader expansion strategy for India. Hyundai Motor Group announced a commitment to invest $15.5 billion in India between 2026 and 2032, covering manufacturing, research and development, localisation and future mobility technologies.
The company also highlighted the role of its regional supplier network. According to Hyundai Motor India, 55 supplier partners have invested nearly ₹4,600 crore in Maharashtra, generating more than 18,000 employment opportunities when Tier-II vendors are included.
The new facility strengthens Hyundai’s manufacturing presence beyond Tamil Nadu and is expected to support production growth, exports and future vehicle launches. The phased capacity expansion will be central to the company’s efforts to increase its market presence and build India’s role in its global operations.
