Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has made his debut on professional networking platform LinkedIn, using his first post to share his vision for India’s sports industry and his ambitions beyond cricket. The former India captain highlighted his association with Bengaluru-based Agilitas Sports and his role in building one8world, a sportswear brand aimed at expanding into global markets.

Kohli has invested ₹40 crore in Agilitas Sports, securing a 1.94% equity stake in the company. He has also joined the business as an investor and become a co-founder and co-creator of one8world. The move signals a shift towards equity ownership and long-term business building rather than relying solely on endorsement agreements.
In his first LinkedIn post, Kohli said he wanted to see an India where every sport is followed, celebrated and played. He highlighted the country’s potential to produce world-class athletes and develop homegrown brands capable of competing internationally.
His vision is to build an end-to-end sports platform from India, covering manufacturing, consumer brands and sports distribution. Kohli said the aim is to help India shape the future of global sport rather than simply participate in it.
The investment comes after Kohli ended his association with Puma. According to media reports, he turned down a proposed contract extension reportedly worth ₹300 crore over eight years, choosing an equity-based partnership with Agilitas instead.
Founded in 2023 by former Puma India and Southeast Asia managing director Abhishek Ganguly, along with Atul Bajaj and Amit Prabhu, Agilitas is building capabilities across sportswear design, manufacturing, brand development and retail distribution. The company acquired footwear manufacturer Mochiko Shoes in 2023 and secured licensing rights for Italian sportswear brand Lotto in India.
Under the arrangement, one8world will operate as an independent sports brand within Agilitas’ broader business platform. Kohli is expected to contribute to product development, including performance, functionality, design and finish, as the company looks to expand the brand’s reach.
Kohli’s move into LinkedIn reflects his growing focus on entrepreneurship alongside his cricket career. His stated ambition is to build a sports business that can outlast his playing years and help Indian brands establish a stronger presence in international markets.
