Volvo Cars India is considering raising vehicle prices as rising input costs and shipping disruptions put pressure on its operations. The Swedish luxury carmaker said geopolitical challenges have increased transportation expenses and extended turnaround times, making future price increases increasingly likely.

Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, said higher shipping and logistics costs are affecting the company, particularly as the movement of components and other materials becomes more challenging. The company may eventually pass these additional costs on to customers if the situation continues.
The potential price revision comes as automakers face continued supply-chain uncertainty and rising transportation expenses. Volvo had already increased prices by up to ₹1 lakh across its vehicle portfolio on May 1, 2026, citing global supply-chain disruptions and foreign exchange fluctuations, according to a Business Standard report.
Meanwhile, Volvo is looking to strengthen its presence in India’s luxury electric vehicle market. The company plans to launch one new electric vehicle in the country every year, while continuing to offer mild-hybrid versions of its internal combustion engine models.
Volvo recently introduced its flagship EX90 electric SUV in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹1.26 crore. The company is also preparing to expand its electric vehicle range, with the ES90 electric sedan among the models expected to enter the market.
The company’s strategy combines new electric vehicle launches with its existing hybrid offerings as it responds to changing consumer demand and operating costs. However, Volvo has not announced a specific date or the extent of any upcoming price increase.
