Shubham Goyal, an IIM Ahmedabad gold medallist, is now a Principal Product Manager at Microsoft in Calgary, Canada, where he leads a 13-member team focused on the enterprise deployment of Microsoft Security solutions. His career has taken him from computer engineering at Delhi Technological University to management consulting and technology leadership.

Goyal graduated from DTU with a B.Tech in Computer Engineering and a GPA of 9.564 out of 10. He later joined IIM Ahmedabad’s MBA programme in 2017. At IIM Ahmedabad, he secured Institute Rank 1 in both years and finished with Overall Institute Rank 1 among 393 students. He received the institute’s Gold Medal for scholastic performance in 2019.
After graduating from IIM Ahmedabad, Goyal joined Boston Consulting Group as a Senior Associate in 2019. His work included strategy, business transformation and large-scale projects. He later decided to move from consulting into product management and joined Microsoft in January 2021.
At Microsoft, Goyal initially worked on product management roles, including Microsoft Whiteboard. He later co-led a 19-member team working on an AI-first transformation through the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, which serves millions of users.
In August 2023, he moved to Calgary, Canada, as a Senior Product Manager. In December 2025, he became a Principal Product Manager. His current role focuses on Microsoft Security solutions and enterprise deployment, with a 13-member team under his leadership.
Goyal has also spoken about the changing definition of career success. He says skills, learning, work habits and personal relationships are important alongside salary and professional growth. He also believes AI should be used where it creates genuine value rather than being treated as a solution to every problem.
