Apple Pay has launched in India, giving iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users a new way to make contactless payments. At launch, the service supports eligible Axis Bank Visa and Mastercard credit cards, while Mac support is expected soon.

Unlike UPI, Apple Pay is card-based and uses NFC technology for tap-to-pay transactions. Users can authenticate payments with Face ID, Touch ID or a device passcode. Apple Pay can also be used for purchases in supported apps and on websites.
UPI remains separate and continues to support QR payments, bank transfers and person-to-person transactions. Apple Pay does not support UPI or RuPay cards at launch.
